How did you end up at VDL TBP Electronics?
“After obtaining my vmbo diploma, I went to the Grafisch Lyceum in Rotterdam. There I followed the System & Devices course and also obtained my diploma there. My first job was at a small ICT company in Stellendam. Here I was an ICT helpdesk employee for both business and private customers. After working there for ten months, an acquaintance mentioned that there was a vacancy at VDL TBP Electronics. I responded and was hired."
What is your position and what do your duties consist of?
“My position is ICT Servicedesk Employee and I support users with technical problems with computers, software and networks. The most important tasks are: troubleshooting, user support, installation and configuration, maintenance and updates, documenting problems and solutions and managing the telephone exchange. The goal is to ensure that the technology works well and that users can quickly get back to work after any technical obstacles. It gives me great satisfaction that, partly due to my dedication and work, everyone in the company can continue to work smoothly."
You live and work on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee. How do you experience this?
“I work in Dirksland and only live a few kilometers away. This makes it easier to find a healthy balance between my work and private life, which allows me to spend more time with family and friends. My brother also works at VDL TBP Electronics, so we can sometimes carpool. It is nice and quiet living on the island and we live a bit in our own bubble. Living in the city is too busy for me personally."

“The colleagues make it fun for me. We have a good collaboration and that creates a pleasant working atmosphere. The combination of helpfulness, diversity in interactions, and the satisfaction of supporting others, makes the collegiality for an ICT Service Desk Employee not only useful, but also enjoyable. In addition, this company offers fun activities such as team building, informal Friday afternoon drinks and outings. This strengthens the bond between colleagues and makes the work even more fun."
