Mariët Nelis has been working at VDL TBP Electronics for almost three years. She is not only an excellent production employee, but also a colleague with whom everyone enjoys working. Her craftsmanship, patience and friendly attitude make her an indispensable link within our team.
“Two of my aunts have been working here for quite some time. I knew from them that VDL TBP Electronics is a nice and great company to work for. My love for technology started at a young age. As a little girl I visited the open days of this company. Technology stimulated my curiosity from an early age. I found it fascinating to see how things were made and how technology works. And I was curious about how everything worked and what there was to see,” says Mariët. “The machines, processes and how everything has to be just right to make a product work well, I already found that interesting to see when I was young. After high school I followed the MBO Hairdressing training and then worked as a hairdresser for about four years. Unfortunately I got physical complaints and wanted to do something else. There was a vacancy at VDL TBP Electronics in the production department and I responded. I was hired and started with great pleasure."
“As a production employee at VDL TBP Electronics, you work in the production area, where there are various departments. I myself started in the cleanroom. A cleanroom is a special area where the amount of dust particles, contaminants and other environmental factors such as temperature and humidity are strictly controlled. In the cleanroom, we wear protective clothing, hairnets and special overalls to prevent human particles, such as skin cells or dust, from entering the area. In short, a cleanroom provides an ultra-clean environment to guarantee the quality of our sensitive components”. “After working in the cleanroom for a year and a half, I wanted to ‘go outside’. Outside the cleanroom, there is more commotion and you have to deal with several colleagues. I noticed that I needed this. That is how I ended up in the manual assembly department. Here I work on projects for clients every day. In this department, you mainly place the smaller components manually, because these cannot be placed with automated equipment. I place the components on the printed circuit board (printed circuit board) using work instructions. The pcba then goes through a wave soldering bath and then we check carefully whether it is correct. In my position, it is important to be able to focus. Manual assembly is precision work and you have to look and pay attention very carefully. It is also important to work calmly and with concentration."
"I really like having work and private life close together. I cycle to work, which I love. Cycling to work offers many advantages. It is not only good for my health, but also for the environment. By cycling every day, I stay active and improve my condition, which contributes to a fitter and more energetic feeling during the day. Because I live so close to my work, I have a lot of time in the evening for other fun things."
“I find my job very interesting and the cooperation between the departments is productive. It is great to work together towards one goal. The working atmosphere is particularly good and I feel at home here. It is nice to have many colleagues around me. At VDL TBP Electronics there are breaks at fixed times and you can eat, drink and relax in the Grand Café. I personally like that because it takes me away from my workplace for a while and I am sharp again when I go to the work floor.”
