From a young age, Ddoyd has had a love of engineering. This cleanroom mechanic builds and checks unique complex machines.
Fat, cool and they build gigantic beautiful machines.
My job at VDL ETG Almelo is cleanroom mechanic. This means that every two weeks I get to build a specific machine (an Optical Bench) for an international customer. After building, the machine is measured in the measuring room to see if everything meets the correct specifications and falls within the set tolerance. After approval, I get to assemble and cleanroom package the product. Then our Production Assistant sends the product to our customer. My work consists of assembling, testing, checking, reporting, planning, researching, reading drawings, soldering, gluing and packaging. In addition, I supervise new colleagues. As a mechanic in the high-tech industry, it is important to be able to work very precisely. For this, good concentration and patience are essential. You must also be able to plan and manage things well and have an inquisitive attitude. There is also a lot of consultation taking place, so you must have good communication skills.
That I build and control unique complex machines. I am proud of working in mechanical engineering. I think it's cool that I can now apply the knowledge I gained during my education in reality.
I start my day by turning on all the equipment that needs to be tested so that we can run an optimal run time. Then I read and answer emails. Then I continue building the machine I am currently building. I work directly with one colleague, but I am a social person so I regularly visit colleagues in other departments when there is time for this. At the end of my working day I make sure that I leave my workplace neatly tidy. The working atmosphere at VDL ETG Almelo is very pleasant, I would recommend it to anyone!
By being enthusiastic and open I now know a lot of people in the organization. I also take all kinds of courses related to technology and my work through VDL's training portal. I really enjoy working at VDL ETG Almelo. I'm crazy about engineering anyway so for me it's logical that I get a lot of pleasure from my work. High-tech is very interesting for a technology enthusiast, and the colleagues I work with make it extra fun at VDL.
