When Lennart started in metal, VDL ETG Almelo was a nice internship spot. Meanwhile, as a CNC miller, he has already learned four different programming languages and is going to prepare a new machine for production in our factory: an interesting challenge!
When I came into contact with forging at my previous training, I found this super interesting. That's why I decided to look for an education in metal. At an internship market I applied at VDL for an internship of six months, and now I have been working here for a year and a half. It is a large company with many opportunities, sometimes it takes a while to find a path that suits you best.
I am a CNC miller/turner. This means that I work with CNC milling/turning machines and use them to produce various parts. It starts with preparing the aluminum that goes into the milling machine. A CNC milling machine is a computer controlled machine, so I program the program that needs to be turned to get the part we need. Then the production of these parts starts. Currently I still do this on several machines. Now a new machine has just come into our hall: a turn-mill combination. i have been given the opportunity to work with this and find out which parts we make that are suitable to produce with this machine.
Curiosity! And a good work ethic/perseverance. We are entering mostly uncharted waters with VDL ETG Almelo, which means that not everything always turns out the way you expect... but we always get there!
That I have already learned to work with four different programming languages, and that in the short time I have been working here I have already been given the opportunity to set up and program new machines twice. When I start my day it is often unknown what I will be working on, this ensures that the work is varied, and at least never boring! For example, today I spent all day doing production while earlier this week I spent all day programming. I really enjoy being able to get involved in different disciplines and learn new things. It gives me great satisfaction to deliver good products.
Every day! Only some times more intensively than others. What I like about our organization is that everyone is willing to help each other.
