Factory Engineer New Product Introduction (NPI) Bart thrives on challenge. With over 25 years of experience at VDL ETG, he has collected extensive knowledge and expertise throughout the entire organisation, which he now leverages in his current role.
‘Innovation, challenge and creativity.’
‘Within my role, you are constantly working to make possible what seems impossible. For this, you need to have sufficient technical expertise and system knowledge to be able to contribute substantively. Social aspects are also important. As a team player, you get more done and you can bring the right people together. To achieve something that has perhaps never been done before, it does not hurt if you are a little headstrong and dare to try new things. If you are also a perfectionist, you have a good combination.’
‘The aspect I enjoy most about my role is the challenge of creating precision parts. Initially, some tasks may seem impossible, but with the right technical expertise and systems knowledge, you can find a fitting solution. Good social skills are crucial: as a team player, you get more done and can bring the right people together. Finding a solution to realise a part is incredibly rewarding. Engineering has always fascinated me, but I truly get energized when the challenge is significant! The company culture and the sociability with colleagues also make working at VDL ETG enjoyable. You work together with many different people throughout the organisation and beyond. Opinions and ideas are valued fostering an open culture where we tackle challenges together.’
‘As a team, we have completed many challenging projects. The particle accelerator, with which we can combat tumours, really stands out for me. This project made me grow a lot in terms of both knowledge and skills.’
‘If you are looking for a high-level technical challenge with plenty of growth opportunities and enjoy working in a pleasant atmosphere. Then VDL ETG is the place for you! I have had numerous roles within VDL ETG. For instance, I started in 1999. In the machine park, I worked with various machining techniques. Think of benchwork, conventional turning, NC Lathe operator, CNC Lathe operator UPT. Subsequently, I have also been a production assistant, instrument maker and work planner. Now I have been a Factory Engineer NPI at VDL ETG Precision since 2017. As I outline: there are plenty of opportunities to keep developing yourself over the years.’
